International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Microsoft and Swiss Agency
for Development and Cooperation (SDC) have stepped forward as funding
social investors for the telecentre.org initiative with the aim of promoting
a widespread collaborative effort that will strengthen the telecentre
movement globally.
With the support from IDRC's Regional Office for South Asia and China,
Humaclin Healthcare Private Limited developed a training module for training
of telecentre managers under the telecentre.org initiative.
Though this training module is mainly in the context of India, it can easily
be adapted in any region or language. This training module along with other
related learning materials constitute a training toolkit for telecentre
managers. It has been developed with the participation of potential users
and is based on their training needs.
Lack of trained telemedicine centre managers has prevented most of the
existing telecentres from providing telemedicine services. The person
trained with this module will be able to operate telemedicine system located
at telecentre, organize telemedicine consultation sessions, build good relations with village community & service providers and act as a nodal
point during community health emergencies.
Availability of trained telecentre managers will impact on improving access
to healthcare services, particularly in difficult to reach areas and serve
the marginalized community. This training toolkit will be equally suitable
for the public, private and voluntary sectors both in normal times and in times of natural calamities.
Humaclin thanks Mr. Basheerhamad Shadrach and Ms. Reema Singh Gideon of IDRC
and
Dr. R. Sweety Prem Kumar for their support.
